biography
Virginia is an architect and the Head of Architectural Technology at the Mackintosh School of Architecture.
Prior to her appointment, Virginia worked at the Liverpool School of Architecture, the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, UCL and the University of Westminster.
Virginia acts as an external examiner at various institutions in the UK and abroad, she is a member of the RIBA Education and Learning Committee, RIBA New Courses Group, RIBA Educational Publishing Advisory Panel and acts as a chair for university validation visits in the UK and overseas.
Virginia's research focuses on the relationship between architecture, health, death and palliative care with a special interest on the setting of death specifically in the design of facilities to accommodate the passing of life.
The research interjects and is influenced by social, cultural and economic contexts and environments and our attitude towards death and health, especially during the modern movement.
