biography
Adrian Stewart is a design studio tutor and lecturer at the Glasgow School of Art, teaching Stages 3, 4, and 5, and a practicing architect. Born in Belfast, he studied at Queens University before completing his Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture at Strathclyde University in 1998.
Adrian co-founded GLAS Co-operative, a workers’ collective of architects, designers, and activists, before founding DO-Architecture in 2005, a six-person Glasgow-based studio. His work explores the intersection of architecture, art, music, and culture, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration to create sustainable, people-centered buildings in harmony with their surroundings.
As a Certified Passive House Designer, Adrian integrates energy efficiency into projects such as a Net Zero crematorium and a graffiti art gallery for SWG3. He inspires students to experiment and engage rigorously with architecture that balances human activity, place, and the environment.
