biography
I have led a collaborative GSA/CCA AHRC research award to create an archive of contemporary art and performance at CCA. Subsequently i've worked on the creation of the Ester Krumbachova archive in Prague.
My current research focuses on two main projects. The first is an exploration of the concept of tradition in recorded folk music. The second is an investigation of the Krazy Kat comic written by George Herriman between 1911 and 1944. In this second project I use historical archives to contextualise and interpret this early masterpiece of comic art, repositioning it in relation to issues of race, sexuality and contemporary art/art writing in the early 20th century.
