biography
I studied at GSA at undergraduate and postgraduate level. I also gained an MSc in Computer Aided Building Design at Strathclyde University and completed a PhD at Robert Gordon University in 2009.
Generally, my work focuses on understanding ordinary human action as it is embodied in public spaces. How philosophical discourse explains human action and how imagery can be used to describe human action.
In my doctoral work I looked at the role played by human action in participatory art. My aim was to confirm that when analytical, phenomenological and sociological philosophies of action are taken into account, then explanations of participatory art are enhanced.
My visual practice explores various methods that can be used to represent the human figure within a designed world. This currently involves drawing in Indian ink and making small sculptural objects with reclaimed copper and mild steel wire.
